About Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

Class resumes for the third session of the hit quiz show ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5th GRADER?. Acclaimed comedian Jeff Foxworthy is at the head of the class as host of this atypical game show, which measures adults' lack of knowledge -- as revealed by how much they've forgotten since grammar school. The family-friendly fun continues next season when the show enrolls a new class of 5th graders.

On the show, adult contestants find themselves revisiting the classroom, tackling subjects they've already been taught -- from art to geography and math to social studies. The test questions, derived from actual textbooks used in the 1st through 5th grades, are similar to the following:
  1. 1st Grade Social Studies: What was the first name of the first U.S. First Lady?
  2. 2nd Grade Science: The chimpanzee's native habitat is on what continent?
  3. 3rd Grade English: What is the singular form of the word "lice"?
  4. 4th Grade Literature: Who wrote the book "Little House on the Prairie"?
  5. 5th Grade Science: What is the most abundant element in the universe?
When the questions prove to be challenging, as they inevitably do, the contestants are not alone; there is a way to "cheat" in this classroom. Adults can get some elementary help by using a "peek," "copy" or "save" from actual 5th grade classmates to determine the correct answer and graduate toward the top prize of $1 million.

Highlights of the upcoming season include the first $1 million dollar winner, celebrity contestants Gene Simmons, Star Jones, Jennie Garth, Kathy Ireland, Sugar Ray Leonard and notable appearances from an astronaut, a Noble Peace Prize winner and "Jeopardy!" record-breaker Ken Jennings, who all enter the classroom to be quizzed for charity.

ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5th GRADER?, winner of the Family Television Award for Outstanding Reality Show and a Kids', Teen and People's Choice Awards nominee, is produced by Mark Burnett Productions in association with ZOO Productions. Burnett, Barry Poznick and John Stevens serve as executive producers.
