WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee bicycle patrol officer is recovering after a teen driving a stolen vehicle hit him, dragging him several feet.

The accident happened Thursday night at 10:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of North 38th St. The officer had stopped to talk to someone who was continuously blowing his car horn.

As officers were trying to interview the man, he accelerated the car and fled from the officers, hitting one cop on his bicycle and dragging him for several feet.

The officer was treated for his injuries and released. He is a 32-year-old with seven years of service with the department.

The officer's partner fired a shot to stop the suspect, but the man was not hit.

The suspect's car was recovered a few blocks away. It was empty. During the investigation, the 17-year-old male was arrested after he went to a hospital with an injury to his knee. The teen admitted his involvement in the incident. The car was stolen. The teen was wanted for a warrant for escaping from a juvenile facility where he had been placed.
