WITI-TV, SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -
Crews suspend their search off the shores of Sheboygan for a missing and presumed drowned Milwaukee teenager. 19-year-old Kristopher Kane was swimming near the Edgewater Power Plant in Sheboygan when friends say the current took him under.
Kane disappeared around 5 p.m. on Monday. The Sheboygan Police Department, Coast Guard and Milwaukee Fire and Rescue have been involved in the search for Kane. That search was suspended indefinitely on Tuesday evening.
The power plant releases warm water out into the lake. You can see steam rising from the water. But the current at that spot is downright dangerous.
Kane's friends tried to pull Kane from the grip of the current. But they had trouble staying afloat themselves.
Meanwhile, the Kane family is waiting on shore for any sign of closure in this terrible story.
