WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE - For the last 21 years the Milwaukee Labor Council in partnership with the United Way have collected personal care items for the homeless and others who are trying to get back on their feet. Milwaukee Labor Council Rep Annie Wacker says, "It's about giving people a sense of dignity I couldn't imagine going out and trying to get a job if I couldn't put on deodorant or if I couldn't wash my face."

For years the hallways of the United Way have been bursting with items needed to help 24 local shelters. Annie Wacker says, "For the first time I have been here for 10 years we had to postpone it cause we don't have enough."

Donations are down so much that if they were dividing among shelters only 2 out of 24 would be helped. The donation date has been extended in hopes that more people will help out.
