WITI-TV, BELGIUM - Two parents are accused of chaining their 12-year-old daughter to a bed every night for months. The parents said their daughter had to be punished.

The small community of Belgium is buzzing after getting word that a 12-year-old girl in her family's apartment was being abused at the hands of her parents. Court records records say Lynn and Patrick Drollinger chained their 12-year-old daughter to the top bunk bed in her bedroom beginning in September of last year.

The criminal complaint goes on to say the couple used zip ties and a metal chain to tie the 12-year-old's wrists to the bed post. They also beat her several times with a plastic hanger. On one occasion she was hit 20 times.

Frederick Reyna lives across the street from where the abuse took place. He says he has had several encounters with the little girl. He claims to have never seen her parents much, and that the 12-year-old girl was home schooled.

Her parents say they beat her and chained her to her bed as a punishment for stealing from stores and from them. Neighbors say they're as shocked about the abuse and feel they should have paid more attention to the little girl.

Patrick Drollinger is currently out of jail. He says he went along with the abuse, because he was afraid of his wife. Drollinger's wife is still in jail.

As a condition of the Drollinger's bail they are not to have contact with their daughter. The couple also has other children. All have been removed from the Belgium apartment.
