WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE -
A plan is in the process to bring new life to Milwaukee's old Northridge Mall. Chinese company "Toward" purchased the land, making it the largest purchase of commercial property in the United States by a Chinese enterprise. "Toward" wants to turn the land into Milwaukee's first Chinatown.
The possible improvement would include new businesses consisting of stores and restaurants. It's estimated between 300 and 500 jobs would be created. New housing would also be built on the site.
"Toward" is still in the conceptual phase of the project. But it's a project that could see significant progress as early as summer 2010.
