WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE -
Milwaukee police are investigating the death of a six-month-old baby girl. Investigators tell FOX 6 they don't know all the details, but say what they do know is disturbing.
There are few details about exactly what went on in this house in 2700 block of N. Richards St., but neighbors call the outcome tragic. Neighbor Lee Hamers said, "I got a knock on the door a disturbing knock on my door, it was a grandmother holding her granddaughter, a 6-month-old baby okay, who was dead...I did CPR on the baby and wiped the baby's mouth and attempted to resuscitate the baby, but still no response."
Hamers says the baby was left alone with two men in the early morning hours while both her mom and grandmother were away. He also tells FOX 6 that the baby was dead by the time the grandmother returned to her home. Hamers believes one of the men in the home is to blame. "It broke me up on the inside like literally if I could chart my rage on a scale of 1-10 it would be 100, because literally it burned me up.", says Hamers.
After learning of the baby's death many in the neighborhood are shocked. Another neighbor told FOX 6, "I wanna see them burn in hell. That's the only thing that will satisfy me. The electric chair won't work, I want these guys to rot."
Police say there is a lot of work to be done on this case and are not expected to release anymore details until tomorrow.
