WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE - It's a topic that's sure to cause some controversy especially among those in the Catholic church. FOX 6 Chrystina Head introduces you to a group who calls itself the new generation of Catholics, and their message is far from traditional.

Advertisements promoting Emergency Contraception(EC) will start airing on television in the beginning of December. Their message is that EC is okay for Catholics to use. Marissa Valeri from Young Catholics for Choice says, "They may have heard differently from the hierarchy and they may have heard differently from their parish priest and were here to let them know that they are not alone and that you can be a good catholic and use contraception."

In a news conference Young Catholics for Choice announced that it has partnered with Wisconsin based Family Planning Health Services to come up with the ads that advocate having the morning after pill on hand even before you need it.

The group realizes that it's message is controversial, because it goes against Catholic doctrine. Valeri says, "I'm sure there will be some conservative voices out there that will not agree with that we are saying in these ads and were not speaking to them. We're speaking to the vast majority of Catholics that use contraception and are supportive of emergency contraception and use that as well."

Milwaukee's new Archbishop says there is no room for interpretation on the church's stance on the issue of choice. Archbishop Listecki says, "To say that you're a Catholic that's embracing a position of choice denies an inherent aspect and that inherent aspect is the dignity of that human individual right from the very moment of conception and that strike at odds with the churches teachings."

Some Catholics not affiliated with Young Catholics for Choice say they understand the groups messages in a time like this.
