WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE -
Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport is expecting thousands more travellers this holiday season as compared to last year at this time. In fact, the airport could break some records.
Why the boom? It's in large part because of the addition of Southwest Airlines and other carriers adding flights. Mitchell is also becoming a more viable option for Illinois residents who are trying to avoid O'Hare or Midway.
"That's good for our region because the more people who get on the planes, and support air service out of Mitchell, the better the non-stop service out of Mitchell and the lower the fares," says Pat Rowe, spokesperson for the airport.
Airport officials remind travellers to check online or call ahead to make sure your flights are on time. Also, make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the airport and get through security.
