Drunk driving is an epidemic that kills more people in Wisconsin every month than swine flu has all year. Lieutenant William Brown of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office says, "We haven't changed the culture yet. Not yet."
Despite all the tough talk in Madison, there appear to be more drunk drivers on the road in 2009. In 2008, the Wisconsin DOT recorded roughly 40,500 drunk driving related convictions. This year, we're on pace to top 44,000. That's enough to fill every seat in Miller Park Stadium.
Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke says, "To me, there is no more of an urgent issue." That's why Sheriff Clarke allowed FOX 6 cameras inside the intoximeter room.
