Some look and laugh, other chastise her parents. A rare disorder that is a Dodge County toddler obese is also bringing about understanding around the community.
Gianna Spittel is capturing the hearts of many in Mayville, because of something wrong in her brain. A little more than five months ago, doctors discovered an inoperable brain tumor, causing hormonal issues.
That tumor causes Gianna to gain weight, at the rate of a pound a week. She is now 88 pounds, twice the size she should be, none of it due to overeating.
The Mayville community is banding together to help raise money to give Gianna the experimental drugs that may help.
There will be a fundraiser with music, food, and a raffle for Gianna on Saturday November 14, 2009 at the Mayville Pavilion from 4pm - midnight.
