KNXV, ARIZONA -
The Arizona Humane Society is helping a little puppy get back on her feet. Little Rue is a six-week-old chihuahua born with only two legs.
The Humane Society's Second Chance Animal Hospital took her in after a clinic found the stray dog. Veterinarians hope to fit Rue with a special device with wheels to help her move better.
Doctors with the Humane Society say an animal like Rue isn't something they see every day.
"We don't see it that often and when we do see it usually we have to humanely euthanize these animals. Because a lot of times they're so labor intensive or there's other problems that we see with these guys," said veterinarian Nancy Bradley. "Sometimes there are liver problems or kidney problems or things like that and so far there doesn't appear to be with Rue and she just needs some extra TLC."
"She's still real topsy turvy 'cause she's so little and uncoordinated," said Bradley.
One of the Humane Society veterinarians plans on adopting the pup.
