WITI-TV, WAUWATOSA - A woman's trip to the post office ends at the police station, all because she uttered one word. Wauwatosa police say the woman was upset with the security procedure, the standard questions asked whenever you mail a package. Her answer to those questions led to an evacuation of the post office, and shocked other customers.

Marvin Lewis, an employee at the post office, knows the standard procedures for mailing packages at the post office. So does almost every customer, but when one 83-year-old woman was asked a standard question she didn't give a standard response. Lt. Leone from the Wauwatosa Police said, "The woman was a little miffed about the process and in an off-hand remark, she responded there was a bomb."

US Post Office employees had to evacuate the post office, which remained closed for an hour and a half. Leone says, "There's no room for error when you're talking about a bomb."

Wauwatosa Police, the Milwaukee county Sheriff's Department an the Sheriff's Bomb Squad were called in. The bomb squad examined the contents of the package and determined it was eye glasses, there was no explosive device."

The 83-year-old woman was taken into custody and received a disorderly conduct citation. Some believe the woman was just being sarcastic, but officials say sarcasm and security don't mix.

The Wauwatosa police estimate that the response to this woman's remark cost taxpayers around $10,000.
