WITI-TV, FRANKLIN -
Congressman Paul Ryan used a green grocery tote to carry the Democrat's entire health care reform bill into the Franklin Public LIbrary Friday. He told a crowd gathered there, now is the time to organize support against the nearly 2,000 page bill -- before next Saturday's up or down vote in Congress.
Rep. Ryan spend a half hour telling people the Democratic bill released Thursday is bad medicine. "I'll simply cut to the chase. This bill has 500-billion dollars in Medicare cuts to pay for the creation of new entitlement. And about $700-billion in tax increases. Taxes on the middle class," he said.
By Saturday, November 9th, Rep. Ryan expects the Speaker of the House to hold a final vote on the Democratic bill. He says the vote will most likely fall on party lines.
Democratic Congresswoman Swen Moore supports the plan on the table right now. She said, "This is transformational. I think it is as as big as us putting Medicare in place, Medicaid. It not only creates a right to healthcare it creates a responsibility for everyone to have healthcare. Everybody has some skin in the game."
