WITI-TV, OZAUKEE COUNTY - Police say 10-year-old Brad Machett was abducted from Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood in autumn 1980. He was apparently walking to his grandmother's business at the time. Then, on October 31st, the boy's body was found in an Ozaukee County corn field. Investigators say Machett was beaten and strangled to death.

Nearly 30 years later, Milwaukee police are taking a new look at this case. Officers have been reviewing the murder since May. They say this cold case heated up due to a discovery in another case.

When police arrested admitted sex offender Daniel Acker, investigators found Machett's name or image on one of Acker's belongings. That discovery is called a jump start in the investigation. Police are not calling Acker a suspect.

Officials are now resubmitting the DNA evidence from the Machett case hoping science will connect a murderer to an unsolved crime.
