WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE -
Russell Seager was a well known and respected instructor at Bryant and Stratton College. For many of his students, Monday evening was the first day back to class knowing the instructor they loved was gone.
To the Medical Assisting program here at Bryant and Stratton College 51-year-old Russell Seager was like a rock. Kathleen Olewinski of Bryant and Stratton College says, "Most of the students and alumni still can't talk about it. Everybody is just traumatized he was loved so much."
Seager was at Fort Hood preparing for a December deployment to Afghanistan with the 467th Medical Detachment when madness broke out. He was many things, he worked full-time at the VA helping vets with mental health issues. He joined the Army Reserves four years ago to help soldiers on the front lines with combat stress control. He was a student pursuing a Doctorate in Education, to go along with countless certifications and degrees he already had.
Grief counselors have been available at the college for students and faculty trying to cope with Seager's loss. We're told a candlelight vigil will be held in the evening hours of November 12, 2009, at 310 W. Wisconsin.
