Despite a last minute push to re-vote, the Mercury Marine contract proposal expired without acceptance by the union. The company says it will now begin the transition process to move the jobs to the Stillwater, Oklahoma plant. The transition is expected to take between 24 and 36 months.
Late Saturday night members of local union 1947 were re-voting to save the jobs from shifting to the company's Stillwater, Oklahoma plant over the next 2 to 3 years.Saturday morning, 3 members of the rank and file gathered a petition with more than half the union's membership stating they want a re-vote.
Mercury Marine spokesperson Mark Lee told FOX 6 News that despite the re-vote, the company must have an answer by Midnight Saturday.
